Isetan’s main dining section is the Eat Paradise gourmet food hall on the 11th floor. However, throughout this department store there are cafes, restaurants and eateries where you can stop for a rest, and enjoy a drink or a bite to eat. Isetan occupies 13 floors on the north west corner of Kyoto Station building
JR Kyoto Isetan is generally open from 10:00 to 20:00. The 11th floor Eat Paradise restaurant street generally runs from 11:00 to 22:00, while the Open View Restaurants on the 7th to 10th floors generally run from 11:00 to 23:00. Individual restaurant hours and last orders vary, so check the posted hours if you are planning a late meal.
Basement Cafes
The B1 level is the food-market floor, with bakeries, coffee shops and counters that are useful for a quick break or something to take away.
B1 – The first basement floor
Maison Kayser
Maison Kayser is a bakery and cafe on the B1 level. The bakery opens from 8:00 to 21:00, and the cafe is open from 8:00 to 22:00 with last orders at 21:30. This is a useful stop if you want bread, pastries, coffee or a light cafe meal without going up to the restaurant floors.
UCC Cafe Mercado
UCC Cafe Mercado – a coffee specialty store and cafe
UCC Cafe Mercado is a coffee specialty store and cafe on the B1 level. It is a good choice if you want to buy coffee beans or sit down with a reliable cup of coffee, a sandwich or something sweet after browsing the basement food counters.
Cafes and Tea Shops – 3rd-6th Floors
Isetan has a number of cafes and tea shops between the 3rd and 6th floors. These work well as rest stops when you want to take a break from shopping without leaving the department store.
3rd Floor
Country House Eikokuya
Country House Eikokuya – a British style tea shop
Country House Eikokuya is a British style tea shop on the 3rd floor. Along with black tea and coffee, you can enjoy chiffon cake, waffles, sandwiches and Japanese style curry.
Malebranche Roman no Mori Cafe
Malebranche Roman no Mori Cafe – for Kyoto desserts
Malebranche Roman no Mori Cafe is also on the 3rd floor. This is the place to look for Kyoto sweets, seasonal desserts and Malebranche’s signature matcha-flavored Langues-de-Chat cookies.
JR West Gate Eat Paradise
The 3rd floor area also has the JR West Gate Eat Paradise group of restaurants and cafes. Options listed here include Osteria Sakura, Kyoto Obuya Kyoto Station branch, Nakamura Tokichi Kyoto branch and Hashitate. This area is useful when you want a proper meal without going up to the 11th floor.
4th Floor
Flags Cafe
Flags Cafe – for pasta, cake and herb teas
Flags Cafe serves simple meals of pasta, rice dishes, cakes and desserts. Desserts can be accompanied by a drink from a broad selection of herbal teas. Flags Cafe is situated on the north side of Isetan, close by the elevators.
5th Floor
agnes b cafe
agnes b cafe is the 5th floor cafe option. This is a convenient mid-shopping stop if you want coffee, tea or a light bite before heading up to the upper restaurant floors.
6th Floor
Saryo Tsujiri
Travelers come from far and wide to taste Saryo Tsujiri’s parfaits
Saryo Tsujiri is a very popular sweet shop specializing in green tea sweets. The original Tsujiri is a famous matcha tea and sweets shop in the Gion area of Kyoto. The Saryo Tsujiri branch shop in Isetan serves green tea flavored parfaits, ice creams and cakes, and it is a good choice when you want a Kyoto-style dessert break.
Ninigi Kanmidokoro Honoka Akari
Ninigi Kanmidokoro Honoka Akari is another 6th floor sweet shop. It is useful if you are looking for Japanese-style sweets in the same shopping-floor range as Saryo Tsujiri.
Open View Restaurants – 7th-10th Floors
From the 7th floor to the 10th floor Isetan has a number of Open View restaurants, so called because they offer fine views over the city and stay open later than most lower-floor cafes. These restaurants are good choices for a sit-down lunch or dinner without leaving Kyoto Station.

Jojoen is the 7th floor Open View restaurant, and is a useful choice when you want a sit-down meal above the main shopping floors.
8th Floor
Kagaya
Kagaya – Formal Japanese cuisine
The original Kagaya is a famous hot spring resort hotel on the Hokuriku seacoast, with a reputation for seafood served in multi-course kaiseki style traditional meals. This branch restaurant is managed directly by the original Kagaya in Hokuriku, and is a higher-end choice for set meals, multi-course meals or a la carte dishes.
9th Floor
Ichiba Koji
Ichiba Koji – a beer dining bar
Ichiba Koji is an izakaya style restaurant, or beer dining bar, which serves a creative menu intended to complement the beverage menu. You can expect grilled meat and fish and some imaginative blends of local ingredients with Western style cooking.
10th Floor
The Kitchen Salvatore Cuomo
The Kitchen Salvatore Cuomo – Italian cuisine
This restaurant combines views over Kyoto Tower and the city with an open kitchen. The menu centers on Neapolitan-style pizza and pasta, with seafood options among the main draws.
KokeKokko
KokeKokko – for barbecued chicken skewers
The word “kokekokko” is the Japanese equivalent of “cock-a-doodle-doo!” and this restaurant specializes in chargrilled chicken. Kokekokko serves yakitori, which is Japanese style barbecued chicken, with the meat skewered on wooden kushi spits before being grilled over charcoal and seasoned with salt or dipping sauces. The restaurant also has panoramic views over the Kyoto hills.
Genki ni Naru Noujou Restaurant Moku Moku
Genki ni Naru Noujou Restaurant Moku Moku is another 10th floor option in the Open View restaurant zone.
