The New Miyako Hotel is an excellent hotel which offers good value comfortable rooms with elegant interiors and numerous facilities. Situated just a three minute walk from Kyoto Station’s southern Hachijo Exit (map), it is especially convenient for those using the Shinkansen or Kintetsu Railways. Express buses to Kansai International Airport and Osaka Airport also depart nearby.

All in all this is a great hotel for either business travelers or tourists. UNESCO World Heritage Site Toji Temple is a 10 minute walk to the west, and Kyoto Tower is just a short stroll across the station.

The New Miyako Hotel is one of the largest hotels in the city with 988 rooms. These come in three categories. In the main building there are comfortable Standard Rooms, and more luxurious Premium Rooms. In the South Wing the rooms are more spacious and have elegant Japanese style interiors.

Concierge
The hotel offers a helpful concierge service with English speaking staff who can advise you on the best tourist locations, help you to book restaurants or taxis, and sell you one-day bus passes. Just look for a staff member with an “I speak your language” badge.
Shopping
Within the hotel is a convenience store and several shops and boutiques selling clothing and accessories, antiques, local handicrafts and souvenirs as well as more basic everyday groceries. There is also a special vending machine corner that stocks both soft drinks and alcoholic beverages, and other goodies such as rice balls, instant noodles and ice cream. This is just perfect if you are in the mood for a midnight snack!

Before and after checking in and out you can leave your baggage at the cloak room. There is also a parcel delivery service here should you wish to lighten your bags and send souvenirs ahead.
Business Center
In the business center there are computers and a photocopying machine. You can access the internet for a nominal fee of 100 yen every ten minutes.

Literally hundreds of dishes both sweet and savory are available in this restaurant buffet. The traditional Japanese décor creates a pleasing mood, and an open kitchen provides entertainment as you enjoy the food that the chefs have freshly prepared. The pastry chef’s sweets selection is especially recommended.

Chinese Restaurant Shisen
Traditional Sichuan cuisine is typically very spicy and uses plenty of oil. This restaurant has tempered that tendency by using carefully selected healthy ingredients, and reducing the oil content. In keeping with Kyoto’s more demure style, the seasoning is light and can be enjoyed by all palates.

Japanese Restaurant Kyo-Yamatoya
