Sotetsu Fresa Inn Kyoto-Hachijoguchi

Sotetsu Fresa Inn Kyoto-Hachijoguchi is a 138-room Sotetsu Fresa Inn hotel near the Hachijo side of Kyoto Station. Opened in 2017, it is a compact and practical choice for travelers who want quick access to Kyoto Station, airport limousine bus stops, Kyoto Avanti, and transport links on the south side of the station.

The hotel is at 11 Higashikujo Nishisanno-cho, Minami-ku, Kyoto 601-8003. It is about three minutes on foot from JR Kyoto Station’s Hachijo East Exit. Airport limousine bus stops around Kyoto Station Hachijo Exit are also close by, and the Kyoto Avanti shopping mall is just across the station-side route.

Guest Rooms

Current room categories include standard double rooms, comfort double rooms, twin rooms, connecting rooms, and a universal double room. Standard doubles are 12.8-13.9 sq m with a 140 cm Serta double bed. Comfort doubles are 15.9-16.8 sq m with a 160 cm Serta queen bed. Twin rooms are 16.8-17.7 sq m with two 120 cm Serta single beds. Connecting rooms link a twin room and a comfort double room and can sleep up to four guests. The universal double room is 17.7 sq m with a 140 cm Serta double bed and is handled by telephone inquiry.

All guest rooms are non-smoking and fitted with Serta mattresses. The rooms are compact, clean, and simple, with the layout and equipment aimed at short city stays rather than extended lounging.

In-room equipment includes an LCD TV, paid video-on-demand, free Wi-Fi, refrigerator, electric kettle, in-room telephone, humidifying air purifier, hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, towels, slippers, and deodorizing spray.

Free amenities are available in the lobby rather than placed all in the room. These include two-piece pajamas, toothbrushes, toothpaste, bath salts, body towels, hair and shaving items, skin-care items, green tea, instant coffee, and tea. The hotel also uses non-contact IC card keys, and a card key is required for late-night entry and elevator operation between 1:00 and 5:00.

Breakfast & Local Dining

Breakfast is served buffet-style on the 1st floor from 6:30 to 10:00, with last entry at 9:30. The buffet includes Japanese and Western dishes, with daily Kyoto vegetable obanzai, pickles and bancha sourced from Nishiki Market, egg dishes, sausages, bread, cereal, and drinks. The current price is 1,400 yen including tax. The hotel is cashless-only, so breakfast tickets bought at the front desk must be paid for by credit card or QR code payment.

For lunch or evening meals, Kyoto Avanti and the Kyoto Station building both have a large number of restaurants within a short walk. There is also a convenience store right beside the hotel for simple snacks, drinks, rice balls, and sandwiches.

Other Services & Facilities

General check-in is from 15:00 and check-out is by 11:00. Sotetsu Hotels Club members are listed with 14:00 check-in and 12:00 check-out benefits. The front desk is open 24 hours, but front-desk payment is cashless-only, using credit cards or QR code payments.

The hotel can hold luggage at the front desk before check-in and after check-out, but only on the day of check-in or check-out. Very large quantities of luggage and items requiring freezing or refrigeration may not be accepted.

The 1st floor has the front desk and lobby, self check-in/check-out machines, breakfast area, microwave, soft-drink vending machines, ice machine, smoking booth, and coin laundry. The coin laundry supports cash, QR code payment, and credit-card payment through the AQ-Connect laundry app.

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel. Loan items include glassware and ice pails, blankets, Tempur pillows, an ion steamer, hair iron, curling dryer, shoe dryer, iron and ironing board, trouser press, wine opener, chopsticks, ice pillow, thermometer, nail clippers, sewing set, desk lamp, extension cord, mobile charger, wheelchair, and non-slip bath mat.

Since December 2024 the hotel has installed the Ryosui Kobo whole-building water purification system, which supplies purified SOU Bi SUI water to guest-room washbasins, showers, toilets, and other hotel water points.

The hotel does not have its own parking lot. Guests arriving by car should use nearby parking. Kyoto Station Hachijo Exit Parking under Kyoto Avanti offers a hotel-guest discount period from 16:00 to 9:00 for 1,200 yen when guests receive a lodging certificate from the front desk and present it before paying at the parking office. Availability is not guaranteed.

Sotetsu Fresa Inn Kyoto-Hachijoguchi is about three minutes on foot from JR Kyoto Station’s Hachijo East Exit. This location is convenient for sightseeing at Toji Temple, Kyoto Tower, and Kyoto Railway Museum.

There are also two shopping malls nearby. Kyoto Avanti is close to the hotel and offers clothes stores and dining facilities. Aeon Mall Kyoto is west of Kyoto Avanti and has a broad range of retail stores, casual eateries, an amusement arcade, and a cinema.
