22 Pieces is bright, stylish, and contemporary boutique hotel located on the south side of Kyoto Station which opened in December 2017. This hotel is unusual in that it offers a range of self-catering studio apartment style rooms each with an adjoining bathroom and kitchen. Former guests speak very highly of this hotel and it enjoys an excellent reputation for its friendly staff, relaxing atmosphere, high quality amenities, and extremely comfortable rooms.

Guest Rooms
22 Pieces has 22 guest rooms which are suitable for between 2 to 5 guests. Guest rooms and their adjoining bathrooms are spacious with chic décor and comfortable beds and furnishings. Free Wi-Fi internet access is available in all the rooms. There are four types of room available.

The Studio with Terrace room
- The Studio with Terrace has 3 single beds, a sofa bed, and its own private walled garden.
- The Studio with Loft Beds has 2 double beds, and 2 semi-double loft beds which are in raised area accessed by stairs.
- The Studio with Living Area has 3 single beds and a sofa bed, with a balcony terrace.
- The Studio with Dining has 3 single beds and a sofa bed, with a large dining table and chairs.

All rooms have air conditioning, a TV, and sofa. All rooms are non-smoking.
Private bathroom are fitted with a shower and a bathtub, and supplied with a full set of towels, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, hand soap, tooth brushes and toothpaste, shaving razors, and a Dyson brand hair dryer. The toilet with its high-tech electric bidet is separate from the bathroom.
Rooms are accessed by a digital four number passcode that guests decide for themselves.

Self-catering
Breakfast and room service are not provided at this hotel, but each room has its own kitchen area which is fully stocked with all the equipment needed for self-catering. Pots, pans, plates, crockery, cutlery, a Balmuda electric kettle, a microwave oven, a refrigerator, a sink, cooking oil, seasoning, and dish washing liquid are all on hand. Everyday groceries can be purchased at the supermarket in the nearby Aeon Mall which is just 4 minutes away. There is also a Family Mart convenience store a 4 minute walk away where guests can buy cheap noodles, rice balls, sandwiches, snacks and drinks.
For other dining options there is a great selection of restaurants and cafes in the Kyoto Station building, in Aeon Mall, and in the nearby Kyoto Avanti shopping complex.

All reception staff can speak English and are eager to help with all enquiries.
The following items can all be borrowed from the reception desk: a combined air purifier and humidifier, an iron, smartphone chargers, extension cords, tea utensils, a wine cooler, and an umbrella.
This hotel has a selection of 22 special items in the lobby area which guests can borrow and use either in their own room or while they are sightseeing. These items are all locally made and include specialized tools and appliances for cooking, and traditional tea making sets. A movie projector is also available to borrow if guests would like to project a movie onto the wall of their room.
A limited number of bicycles are available to rent.

22 Pieces is a 5 minute walk from the south exit of Kyoto Station. This location cannot be beat for local transportation options. At Kyoto Station guests can access local rail, subway, taxi and bus services, including tourist buses.
Airport limousine bus services depart from bus stops just 6 minutes from the hotel. This area is also very convenient for local shopping at Aeon Mall, which is just 4 minutes to the west, and at Kyoto Avanti, which is 6 minutes to the east.
Popular sightseeing locations such as Toji Temple, Kyoto Tower, and Higashi Honganji Temple are all walkable from the hotel. Also in the vicinity is a traditional public bath house (directly across from the hotel) with baths separated by gender, and a branch of the Kyoto Cycle Tour Project is just 3 minutes from the hotel.
22 Pieces is run by the TAT company which also operates cheap hostels for budget travelers in Kyoto. Those looking for cheaper accommodation may prefer to stay at Piece Hostel Kyoto, which is also located very close to Kyoto Station. If a more central location is preferred then Piece Hostel Sanjo East is another good option close to Nishiki Food Market which opened in December 2018. Both hostels have a mixture of dormitory and private room options.
