Guest Rooms
Piece Hostel Kyoto has a mix of dormitories and private rooms. Private rooms come with single, semi-double, or double (king-size) beds. There is also a Family Room which has two semi-double bunk-beds, and two sofa beds and this room can hold groups of between 4 to 6 people. All private rooms come with a TV, a sink, free toiletries, a hair dryer, and thick, fluffy bath towels.
Bunk-beds are available in the 18 bed mixed dormitory, the 6 bed mixed dormitory, the 4 bed mixed dormitory, and the 6 bed female dormitory. Each bunk has its own privacy curtain, a reading lamp, and an electrical outlet. Dormitory guests also have their own luggage space and a locker for their belongings with a numbered-combination lock. The 4 bed mixed dormitory also has a sofa and a TV.
All rooms, dormitories, and public areas are clean, tidy, and designed in a bright, contemporary, and cozy style. Many guests have commented on the extremely comfy beds. If needed, extra pillows and towels can be picked up in the lobby.
Washing & Toilet Facilities
The shared shower area is located on the first floor and has hot running water 24 hours a day. There are six showers for male guests and six showers for female guests. There is also one bathroom with a bathtub and shower which can be used by families or couples. Free shampoo, conditioner, body soap and bath towels are provided. Simple washrooms with basins, soap, and hair dryers are located on each floor. Western-style toilets are located on every floor, and there is one barrier-free toilet on the first floor for disabled guests.

Breakfast & Dining
Breakfast is free and consists of a fresh, wholesome mix of bread, potato salad, eggs, rice, pickles, and miso (bean paste) soup. Free tea and coffee are available 24 hours a day in the communal lounge area.
This hostel has a fully equipped kitchen with a refrigerator, stove, two toasters, two microwave ovens, crockery, cutlery, cookware, and seasonings.
Cheap everyday groceries can be bought in the Don Quijote discount store on the 3rd floor of Kyoto Avanti which is just 4 minutes away on foot. There is also a 7-Eleven convenience store just 2 minutes from the hostel where you can pick up cheap snacks, sandwiches, rice balls, noodles, and drinks.
Communal Facilities
Communal facilities are all on the first floor and can be accessed 24 hours a day.
There is a combined café and bar in the first floor lounge area. Café time is from 8.00 – 22.00 and the bar is open from 17.00 till midnight. Guests can order freshly ground espressos, lattes, teas, beers, sake, cocktails and a variety of spirits. Guests can freely bring their own food and drinks into this area.
Also located in the lounge is an extensive library of English and Japanese language books which includes sightseeing, architectural, and cultural guides to Kyoto and Japan. Some art and photography books are also available to buy.
Free events and activities are held regularly in the first floor communal area and include Japanese cooking parties, cinema nights, and happy hour at the bar.
Three Mac computers are located on the first floor which guests can use freely to access the internet. Staff can print guests’ documents for a small fee. Free Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout the building.
Other Services and Facilities
Staff at reception are fluent in English and are happy to advise guests how to make best use of local transport and give tips on local sightseeing, dining and entertainment options. Guests can leave their luggage at reception before checking in and after checking out. Check-in time is from 15.00 and check-out time is by 11.00. Close by reception is a large map of Kyoto which guests can use to plan their daily sightseeing trips.
This hostel has no curfew, but after midnight guests will need to use their digital card key to access the building.
This hostel has an elevator so that guests can easily carry their baggage to the upper floors.
The hostel interior is completely non-smoking. However, there is a terrace garden on the first floor where guests are permitted to smoke. There is another smoking area on the 3rd floor terrace garden where guests can enjoy a fantastic view of the city.
There is a self-service laundry area with three coin-operated washing machines and three dryers on the first floor terrace which can be used 24 hours a day. The washing machines cost 200 yen for one cycle and the dryers cost 100 yen for 30 minutes.
Bicycles are available to rent for 500 yen a day.

Piece Hostel Kyoto is a 4 minute walk from the south side of Kyoto Station. This provides excellent access to local transportation, including train, subway, bus, and taxi services. Guests can find plenty of shopping and dining facilities in the Kyoto Station building and the nearby Aeon and Avanti shopping malls. This location is also convenient for sightseeing at Toji Temple, Kyoto Tower, and Higashi Honganji Temple.
