Piece Hostel Kyoto offers budget, backpacker-style accommodation about five minutes on foot from JR Kyoto Station’s Hachijo Exit. It is a practical choice for travelers who want dormitory beds or compact private rooms, shared facilities, a communal kitchen, and a lounge/library space close to Kyoto Station.

The hostel is best suited to guests who are comfortable with shared bathrooms and showers, and who want the social atmosphere of a hostel rather than the privacy of a full-service hotel.
Guest Rooms
Piece Hostel Kyoto has a mix of dormitory beds and private rooms. Current room types include 18-bed Mixed Dormitory, 6-bed Mixed Dormitory, 6-bed Female Dormitory, 4-bed Mixed Dormitory, Family Room, Private Single Room, Private Loft Single Room, Private Twin Bed Room and Private Double Bed Room.

Private double room
All room types include air conditioning, Wi-Fi, a personal bedside light, free linen and free towels. Beds use memory foam mattresses. Bathrooms and showers are shared throughout the hostel, so there are no ensuite rooms.
Private rooms are compact and include a TV, private sink, hair dryer and hangers. The Private Single Room and Private Loft Single Room sleep one guest, the Private Twin Bed Room and Private Double Bed Room sleep two guests, and the Family Room sleeps four guests in four semi-double beds.
Dormitory beds use semi-double sized mattresses, W120 cm x H200 cm. Each dormitory bed has a privacy curtain, personal bedside light, electrical outlet, luggage space and a safe. The 4-bed Mixed Dormitory also has a sofa, 40 inch TV and floor lamp.

Amenities include bath towel, face towel, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, hand soap and slippers. Rental items include an iron, multi adapter, charger and extension cord. Pajamas are not provided.
Washing & Toilet Facilities
Showers are on the 1st floor, with 6 all-gender shower rooms and 6 women-only shower rooms. They are available 24 hours. There is also a shower room with a bathtub for families and couples. Shampoo, conditioner, body soap and bath towels are provided.
Toilets are located on every floor. The hostel also has powder rooms with hand soap and Dyson hair dryers. The building has wheelchair accessible rooms and a wheelchair accessible bathroom, but the rooms are compact, so guests who need accessible space should check room size carefully when booking.

Breakfast & Dining
Breakfast is not currently provided at Piece Hostel Kyoto. Instead, guests can use the spacious shared kitchen in the common area to prepare food bought from nearby shops and supermarkets. Free tea, Japanese tea and coffee are available in the 1F kitchen.
The kitchen is designed as a social space as well as a cooking area, so it suits guests who are happy to self-cater during their stay. For groceries, snacks and simple meals, there are shops and convenience stores around Kyoto Station, including in and around Kyoto Avanti.

The communal lounge and library
Communal Facilities
The 1F common area includes a lounge/library, shared kitchen, event space and terrace. The library space has about 600 books, including books on travel, Kyoto, Japanese culture and lifestyle.

The shared kitchen gives guests a place to cook and meet other travelers. The event space is used for traveler meetups and cultural exchange, while the terrace provides an outdoor place to take a break from the city.

The internet corner
The hostel has an internet corner/computer station, and free Wi-Fi is available throughout the building.
Other Services and Facilities
Front desk staff are present from 8:00 to 23:00. Check-in is from 16:00 to 23:00, and check-out is by 11:00. Guests arriving after 23:00 should contact the hostel in advance.
Luggage can be stored free of charge from 7:00 to 0:00. The hostel can also accept luggage sent up to two calendar days before check-in if the guest emails in advance and clearly writes the check-in date and reservation name on the baggage slip.
There is no curfew, but the automatic entrance door closes at midnight for security. Guests use their room keycard to enter after midnight.
The hostel has an elevator. Indoors, the property is non-smoking. Smoking is permitted on the outdoor 1F terrace and on the 3F terrace until 22:00; after 22:00, guests should use the 1F terrace. Guests who smoke indoors may be fined.
Laundry is on the 1F terrace and is available from 7:00 to 0:00. The hostel lists 3 washing machines, 3 electric dryers and 2 gas dryers. Washing costs 200 yen with detergent included; electric dryers cost 100 yen for 30 minutes and gas dryers cost 100 yen for 10 minutes.
Bicycle rental is listed as available, but guests should check current pricing at reception. The hostel does not have its own parking area. There is public parking next to the hostel, but no hostel discount is provided.
Children of any age may stay in private double, twin and family rooms, but children under 10 are not allowed in dormitory rooms. If all guests in a reservation are under 20, each guest needs a parent or guardian consent form.

Piece Hostel Kyoto is at 21-1 Higashikujo Higashisannocho, Minami Ward, Kyoto City, Kyoto 601-8004. It is about 5 minutes on foot from JR Kyoto Station’s Hachijo Exit on the south side of the station. This location gives guests access to local train, subway, bus, and taxi services.
Guests can find shopping and dining facilities in the Kyoto Station building and the nearby Aeon and Avanti shopping malls. This location is also convenient for sightseeing at Toji Temple, Kyoto Tower, and Higashi Honganji Temple.
